Phantasmagoric

"Phantasmagoric" is an exploration into aspects of the daily experiences of womanhood that blends the ordinary with the extraordinary and invites viewers to reconsider the complexities and nuances of womanhood through a surreal lens. Familiar settings like the bedroom and living room are domains for the liminal lifestyle I evoke with my photos. The project encouraged me to fully embrace my own body while utilizing the technique of long exposures to capture movement, akin to the strokes of paint on a canvas.

Through various lighting setups, the work incorporates color and texture as essential tools to evoke phantasmagoric gestures. With each environment, I experimented with different lighting techniques, using flash, slow exposure, and colored lights to create a fantastical, ethereal effect. This effect challenges the perfection of femininity. Each element, from the lighting to the subject's movements, contributes to creating a dreamlike atmosphere that challenges conventional perceptions of femininity and reality.
