Betta Semiotics

These posters display an icon that we were instructed to design based on an animal. I chose the betta fish as my animal. These icons were then combined with text to create posters highlighting another layer of metaphorical or connotative meaning. The first poster displays my icon as apart of a beauty brand called Betta Beauty. The poster shows the scientific name for a betta fish, Betta Splendens, and its translation, Beautiful Warrior. The second poster is a lyric/album cover for the song Manifest, off of Andrew Bird’s album, My Finest Work Yet. The poster is designed to be on an album and displays a quote from the song that connects to the icon. The third poster is a motivational poster for mental health with information taken from Plymouth University. The poster showcases that keeping fish can improve mental health and helps to reduce anxiety.
